Today

Today did not start the way I had hoped. I woke up a little bit before four this morning. I was not wide awake but I was awake enough that all of my senses were on and my mind was mostly functioning. I lied there until maybe fifteen after four before I decided to just pack it up and go lie on the couch. I took a couple of my pillows and one the blankets. I also took my phone and the Switch in case I was not able to rest and needed something to pass the time. While I did mess around on my phone for a bit, I did not turn on the TV nor did I play on the switch. After a little while I turned off my phone, put a pillow between my legs and tried to go back to sleep. I do recall ever actually going back to sleep nor do I remember waking up. But I did not get back up until around seven-thirty so I must have gone to sleep and not realized it. Anyway, I had already Marc that I did not think it would be a good idea to do our workout this morning. My back does not seem as bad off as it was but I thought doing the push-ups, burpees, and planks might be pushing it. So that didn’t happen. We did however get some of the deck painted as well as got what was left of the old apple tree out of the ground so today was not a complete waste. As a matter of fact, I feel a little bit of a sense of accomplishment. Having this extra day off is nice(minus the issue with the smaller paycheck).

Upshur County has its fourth confirmed case of Covid-19 today. That seemed to concern Megan. I honestly feel that the spread of the virus around here is as slow as we could hope for. I do not for one second discount that severity of this pandemic. I do however think that folks on all levels could use a little bit of common sense rather then heavy handed restrictions imposed the by the government on all levels. I would love to say this will pass soon but I just do not think that is realistic. There is way to much we do not know yet. What we do know however is the communicability rate is through the roof. None of us have any kind of build in immunity. People continue to compare this to past epidemics or the flu. There is no real comparison. Many of us get flu shots. Many of us already have some immunity to various strains of the flu. The only reason the cases and deaths from this virus are as low as they are is because of the restrictions that have been put in place. If human beings went about their business like this was the seasonal flu, so may more of us would get it and I am sure the deaths would dwarf that of the flu. I just really hope we can make some small steps towards a new normal soon. I do not want to see the economy and peoples lives fall apart any more than they already have.

One final note. My support person asked that I try to reassess my goals for our time working together. I have not completely done that yet. I think I will need to make sure I have a little bit of down before I go diving in to that. It warrants my full attention. Well, I am sorry this was another boring one. My mind is still not at its best I guess. Oh well, there is always tomorrow. Until then, I will keep running the race…..or at least walking it.
